I Feel Good
We get that Mary J. needs to stay relevant. And she has the right to be happy, as on the peppy "Good Love" or the self-helping "Each Tear." But unfair as it may seem, we just don't know what to do with an Auto-tuned ("The One"), upbeat Mary J. The diva we fell for is the one who grows Stronger with Each Tear. Despite that stirring title, however, her tenth album is relatively drama-free, with the exception of a few deliciously desperate love songs like "We Got Hood Love" and the Motownish "In the Morning." "I Am" is a good balance of her new happy hipness and old-school diva drama.
