If this disc were a movie, it would be one those G-rated films that appeal to both children and adults. Mr. Scruff's playful persona evokes an animated world on "Sweet Smoke," while diva-assisted tracks such as "Come Alive" reveal a deeper, soulful side. Overall, the LP is a fine addition to the evolving nu jazz genre.
