Song For Bob
Label: Mute, a BMG Company
Nick Cave and Bad Seed Warren Ellis have a history with soundtracks. From working with director Wim Wenders to their score of Cave's own directorial debut on The Proposition, there's a beautiful heaviness to their music that lends itself to celluloid. Their score of The Assassination of Jesse James... shows the two at their safest. While Cave's Dracula-like fingers tickling piano keys can spawn myriad dark emotions, the album's over-reliance on simple violin and cello instrumental arrangements doesn't convey the catharsis that we've come to expect from the thin black duke.
