Smash, Offspring's second album, is their best record. Not only did this independently released album (on Epitaph) hit the Top Five, it stayed in the charts for weeks. Offspring hit their stride playing punk songs loaded with metal riffs and sluggish hardcore tempos. They also borrow from other styles, such as on the Eastern influenced hit "Come Out and Play."
