Little Girl And The Dreadful Snake
Earliest Recordings collects the short stack of 78s the Stanley Brothers recorded for a small Tennessee label by the name of Rich-R-Tone just after WWII but before releasing a string of bluegrass-defining sides for Columbia and Mercury, respectively. Carter and Ralph's classic harmonies are present, but they're raw and youthful. At the same time, the Brothers are still steeped in ragged old-time mountain music. They have yet to fully adopt bluegrass' mechanized precision.
