Damn Good Friends (Duet with Jason Aldean)
Label: Columbia Nashville
The Missouri-raised, opera-trained, self-proclaimed redneck packs his second album with plenty of guns, bibles and power-ballad guitars, plus a marijuana mention or two: The Meat Loaf-ish "Raised to Pray" looks back on teenage days "smokin' Swishers" while the King James version slid around his pickup's floorboard. Instead of stalking the gal who dumped him like last time, he escapes to a mountain cabin. He opens with a talking swamp blues referencing Charlie Daniels and John Anderson, male-bonds with Jason Aldean in "Damn Good Friends," and scores a few points before his tunes run low on gas.
